School’s Music Program
All classes receive one Music lesson per week from Lorna Van der Merwe.  The focus of these lessons is to teach children basic knowledge and understanding of musical elements such as rhythm and metre, tone, pitch and melody, and form and structure as well as music appreciation.
 
Choir
The Choirs are open to anyone in the relevant grades (not audition based), as long as students commit to coming to all rehearsals and performances. There is no cost involved, unless an excursion is arranged.
Junior Choir is for Prep to Year 2
rehearsals are on Tuesday mornings at 8 am – 8:30 am in the Music Room.
Senior Choir is for Grades 3-6
rehearsals are on Thursday mornings at 8am – 8:30 am in the Music Room

Instrumental Music – Strings
Students can learn violin, viola or cello
A recruitment and selection process occurs in Term 3 and 4 of Grade 2, to select students to begin in the strings program for the following year. String lessons commence in Grade 3 for the selected students.
30 min String lessons are timetabled during class time on Tuesdays  and Thursday mornings.
String students in Grades 4-6 are also in the String Ensemble which rehearses on Tuesday mornings from 7:50 to 8:30 am in H Block.
Strings levy $35
Band
Students can learn brass, woodwind, bass guitar and percussion.
Lessons available to selected students from Year 4-6

30 min Instrumental lessons are timetabled during class time on Thursdays and Friday mornings.
